چکیده

This paper describes a control framework that enables distributed battery energy storage systems (BESS) connected to distribution networks (DNs) track voltage setpoints requested by the transmission system operator (TSO) at specific interconnection points in an optimal and coordinated manner. The design is based on optimisation problem whose objective minimise real-time voltage-tracking mismatch while satisfying local physical network constraints. A novel agent-based scheme adopting online convex (OCO) developed solved fashion guarantee solution’s scalability service provision within required time. BESS agents under proposed automatically adapt time-varying conditions so as whilst fulfilling technical operating requirements of network. designed OCO-based addresses existing conflict between accuracy optimality solution communication computational efficiency. convergence demonstrated. Several case studies are performed corroborate analytical results assess performance approach.

Coordinated control for voltage regulation of distribution network voltage regulation by distributed energy storage systems

With more and more distributed photovoltaic (PV) plants access to the distribution system, whose structure is changing and becoming an active network. The traditional methods of voltage regulation may hardly adapt to this new situation. To address this problem, this paper presents a coordinated control method of distributed energy storage systems (DESSs) for voltage regulation in a distribution...

Optimal Planning of Battery Energy Storage Systems for Mitigating Voltage Fluctuations in Active Distribution Networks

Variations in solar irradiance and wind speed cause fluctuations in voltage of distribution networks. Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) are usually installed in the distribution networks to mitigate the effects of these voltage fluctuations. The lifespan of a BESS-battery is affected by various factors such as the operating temperature, the level of depth of discharge and the magnitude of ...

Model Predictive Control for Distributed Microgrid Battery Energy Storage Systems

This paper proposes a new convex model predictive control strategy for dynamic optimal power flow between battery energy storage systems distributed in an AC microgrid. The proposed control strategy uses a new problem formulation, based on a linear d–q reference frame voltage-current model and linearised power flow approximations. This allows the optimal power flows to be solved as a convex opt...
